EMEP: Zionist Israeli regime prepared today’s attacks

EMEP: “The Zionist state of Israel, which forcibly displaced the Palestinian people in 1948 and forced them to live in a state of siege today, is also responsible for today’s situation.”

Labour Party (EMEP) issued a statement on the Hamas’s “Aqsa Flood” operation and the developments between Israel and Palestine in the aftermath.

EMEP emphasized that the Zionist Israeli regime prepared today’s attacks and said, “Palestine’s legacy of resistance from the intifadas belongs to the Palestinian people, not Hamas.”

EMEP criticised the fact that the states that did not say “Stop” while Israel was persecuting the Palestinian people are now making “restraint” suggestions, and reminded that the summits organised so far on the problem have continued to tie Palestine’s hands and continue to give Israel the green light.

Underlining that the resistance and struggle of the Palestinian people is legitimate, the statement said, “Of course, Hamas is not the power that represents the Palestinian struggle. The attacks against the civilian population by Hamas, which has sold out the Palestinian cause, corrupted the Palestinian nation’s struggle for equality of rights and is as much a bastion of religious reactionism as Israeli Zionism, cannot be approved.”

“The attacks of Hamas will be considered as a blessing for the world order of imperialism,” the statement said, criticising the attitude of the Turkish administration, which in every situation patted the back of Israeli Zionism.

“The Labour Party stands by the Palestinian people against the attitude of Zionist Israel. The fate of the lands occupied by Israel must be jointly determined by the two peoples. This is the way to stop the endless attacks.”

The full statement is as follows:

“‘OPERATION’ IS THE RESULT OF ISRAELI AGGRESSION”

“The Aqsa Flood “operation” against Israel, launched by Hamas on the morning of October 7, has raised tensions between Israel and Palestine to a new level. The Zionist state of Israel, which forcibly displaced the Palestinian people in 1948 and forces them to live in a state of siege today, is responsible for the current situation. The people of Gaza have been forced to live in an open prison for years.

The “operation” of the Hamas-affiliated Izzettin al-Qassam Brigades, which fired rockets from Gaza and several guerrilla groups entered Israel from different points, captured a border crossing and a police station and captured some Israeli soldiers, was the result of the known aggression of Israeli Zionism’s mass killings.”

“STATES THAT DID NOT STOP ISRAEL NOW SAY ‘RESTRAINT'”

“From the strongholds of imperialism and its apparatuses in the region, which have remained largely silent in the face of Israel’s four major offensives and incessant harassment of the Palestinian people between 2008 and 2023, in which the Palestinian people suffered more than 300,000 casualties, support for Israel or calls for ‘restraint’ are being heard. Yet, these states, which did not stop Israel while Israeli artillery and airplanes repeatedly bombarded the Gaza Strip without any justification, while it continued to persecute the civilian population with tank operations from time to time, and while the people of the West Bank were being persecuted, had previously maintained the same attitude. The same regional states did not raise their voices when, under the Muslim Brotherhood rule in Egypt, the corridors that were the breathing tubes of the people of Gaza were closed. The same was the case when Trump declared Jerusalem, home to the holy sites of the three religions, as the capital of Jerusalem, with the support of all three religions. Based on this, Zionist Israel ignored the special status of this city and targeted Al-Aqsa Mosque and thus the Palestinian faiths for attack.”

“AT THE SUMMITS, PALESTINIANS’ HANDS WERE TIED AND THE GREEN LIGHT FOR ISRAEL CONTINUED”

“It is not possible to explain today’s attacks by detaching the Palestinian question from its historical context. In the summits organized to supposedly solve this problem, those who took the de facto situation created by Israel as a given and took decisions in the interests of the Zionist state further complicated the problem and continued to give Israel the green light by tying Palestinians’ hands. The question of ‘who attacked first’ has become meaningless under the conditions of Israel’s continuous aggression and oppression against the Palestinian nation.”

“THE PALESTINIAN PEOPLE’S RESISTANCE IS LEGITIMATE, HAMAS IS NOT THE REPRESENTATIVE OF THE PALESTINIANS”

“In many countries around the world, including the people of Israel, it was only the people who stood up and protested against Israel’s attacks on Palestine. Those who raised their voices by filling the squares of their own countries stood with the poor and unrecognised Palestinian people.

The resistance and struggle of the Palestinian people coming from the intifadas is legitimate. However, Hamas is not the force that represents the accumulated struggle of Palestinians who have been fighting for their country at the cost of their lives since the past. The attacks on civilians by Hamas, which has sold out the Palestinian cause, corrupted the Palestinian nation’s struggle for equality of rights and is as much a bastion of religious reaction as Israeli Zionism, cannot be approved.”

“HAMAS’ ATTACKS WILL BE CONSIDERED A BLESSING FOR IMPERIALISM”

“The Hamas attack also came against the backdrop of a slow escalation of tensions in the world. On the one hand, the wars of division between the US-EU imperialists and Russia, which confronted each other in Ukraine, deepened with the recent Armenia-Azerbaijan crisis. Two days before the Hamas attack, Turkey launched an operation ‘out of the blue’ against the Kurdish regions in northern Syria, and air strikes against Iraqi territory continue intermittently. The US continues to provoke tensions in the Middle East and align regional states in line with its own interests. With Hezbollah’s announcement that it will side with Hamas, the US is ready to reopen its calculations on Iran, which it has been waiting for the day to come.

The policies pursued for years by the Zionist Israeli administration, the handy apparatus of US imperialism, continue to serve the tension from a plane where the wars of division declared in the final protocols of NATO meetings are deepening. The fault lines of the region have become unable to bear the accumulation.

The US and European imperialists openly support Israel and its aggression, condemning only Hamas. It is clear that condemnations without mentioning equality of rights are the character of the imperialists who themselves attack the peoples. Hamas’ attacks will also be considered as a blessing for the world order of imperialism.”

“THE GOVERNMENT OF TURKEY HAS ALWAYS BACKED ISRAEL IN EVERY SITUATION”

“Turkey was content with advising restraint on both sides. Immediately after Erdogan’s ‘One Minute’ demonstration in Davos in which he defied Israel, the Turkish leadership is not in a position to show a different attitude due to the joint air exercises with Israel, trade relations, and the ongoing dependency relations with the US. In every case, Israeli Zionism has been patted on the back.”

“ANY ‘SOLUTION’ THAT DOES NOT RECOGNISE THE EQUALITY OF RIGHTS OF THE PALESTINIANS MUST NOT BE ACCEPTED”

“Today, the oppressed Palestinian people, who are hurt in every Israeli operation, are alone. The Palestinians, who do not have citizenship rights, whose state is not recognized, whose living space is squeezed into a strip that shrinks a little more every day, have no support other than the democratic conscience of the peoples.

Neutrality or ‘mediation’ cannot be taken in the face of Israeli Zionism’s denial of rights. Palestinians demanding equality of national political rights and the right to statehood are right; this struggle must be supported and no ‘solution’ that does not recognise the equality of rights of Palestinians must be accepted.

“EMEP STANDS WITH THE PALESTINIAN PEOPLE”

“The Labour Party stands with the Palestinian people against the attitude of Zionist Israel. It defends that the Palestinian and Israeli peoples should have equal political rights.

The fate of the lands occupied by Israel should be jointly determined by the two peoples. This is the way to stop the endless attacks.”
